The main advantage of a gaming PC is its endless upgrade ability. When you buy a console, you are going to be limited to the games that come out for that console, and a few years later that console and its games are going to be technologically obsolete. Though your PC will likewise be obsolete in the same time period, you can bring it in for an upgrade and continue to play current games with it. Games that come out for the PC are almost always technologically up to date, with the best sound and graphics engines available. Games for a console are going to be limited to the specifications of the console.
Personally, I think games that come out for the PC tend to be better games overall, and not just because they are made with the most current graphics. Even games that come out for both the PC and one or more consoles tend to play better on the PC. Often times a game that was popular on a console will come out in an ‘extended’ or somehow modified version just for the PC. Games that are made only for the PC seem to be better written, and higher quality games.
