I was first introduced to laser pointers in college. I had a cat in my apartment, and my friend brought one over. To my amazement, it kept my cat amused for hours, which in turn, amused me endlessly. This type of laser pointer may not be a laser at all, but it sure was fun for my pet. There are all kinds and strengths of laser pointers you can buy, and what you get will depend on what you need one for.
Laser points are now popular pet toys, and you can buy them almost anywhere. Some even come with different attachments to change the beam of light, not that your pet will care. They use a series of small batteries, and they seem to go quite a while before you need to buy new ones. You can get them on key chains so you have them wherever you go. If you are trying to fit your key into your car door in total darkness, the little beam of light provided by laser pointers can be a huge help.
There are larger and more powerful models that are used for more than just entertaining your pet. Many companies use these for presentations. It is easy to point something out from anywhere in the room, and this leaves speakers and meeting heads free to move about the room instead of being stuck standing next to their presentation. You can get these in a bunch of different colors if you want something different.
There is a problem with laser pointers, however, and this happens when people forget how powerful they can be. I once had one with me as I was riding down the interstate in the middle of the night. It was late, and I was not driving, so I was trying to keep myself amused. I shot my little pointer out the window and was amazed at how far it would go. It would produce a red light on highway signs far in front of us. In retrospect, it was rather stupid to do this, as I could have blinded a driver coming in my direction.
If you love to play with or use laser pointers for any reason, just remember that they are more powerful than they seem. Make sure you aren’t doing something to blind someone, which can cause huge problems. Many events like concerts and movies won’t allow laser pointers to be brought in because people aren’t always considerate of others. No matter how funny it may seem to point your laser pointers at the movie screen throughout the entire movie, just remember that no one else will be amused.

Big Screen Tv Entertainment Centers
If there's one thing we humans love, it's entertainment. Whether it's films, television, or music, we simply can't get enough. In the old days, our parents had to rely on movie theaters to provide them with that, ever so necessary escapism.
That fantasy world that allows you to live vicariously through a hero or leading lady. Well, those days are behind us. Our unlimited technology has provided us with a plethora of entertainment devices to fill our homes. From computers to stereo systems, to big screen TV entertainment centers, the list drags on forever. With the endless advancements made to our home entertainment, everyone is always looking for that new and better television.
The big screen TV entertainment centers available today give new meaning to the words, home theater. While we used to depend on the movie theaters for that grand crescendo of picture and sound, we don't any longer. Do You Need A Gaming PC?
The main advantage of a gaming PC is its endless upgrade ability. When you buy a console, you are going to be limited to the games that come out for that console, and a few years later that console and its games are going to be technologically obsolete. Though your PC will likewise be obsolete in the same time period, you can bring it in for an upgrade and continue to play current games with it. Games that come out for the PC are almost always technologically up to date, with the best sound and graphics engines available. Games for a console are going to be limited to the specifications of the console.
Personally, I think games that come out for the PC tend to be better games overall, and not just because they are made with the most current graphics. Even games that come out for both the PC and one or more consoles tend to play better on the PC. Basics Of LCD Televisions
LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. Originally designed for electronic display devices, now this technology is widely used to manufacture high-resolution televisions. Liquid crystal televisions work on Thin Film Transistor (TFT) technology. Their screen consists of a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between two transparent layers. A bulb placed behind the screen illuminates the TFT panel. Upon receiving the data, the liquid crystals align themselves in various degrees. The alignment of the crystals blocks unwanted light and only required light gets transmitted. The degree of alignment decides what color and contrast will be filtered through the panel.
When LCD TVs were first introduced, their major competition was the plasma TV. LCD and plasma televisions coexist and compete even today. Each has its own merits and demerits. LCD TVs cannot produce as much color or contrast as plasma TVs, but their overall picture quality remains better than a plasma TV. They can produce better resolution per square inch of their surface than a plasma TV.
Initially LCD TVs suffered from problems related to viewing angles. They could not be viewed from extreme horizontal angles. But now, LCD TVs are so designed that even at angles as wide as 160 degrees, they can be viewed with clarity.

35mm Camera Review
I got my first 35mm camera when I was 12 years old. I thought it was so cool, and there were so many ways that it could fuel my imagination. I'd sometimes pretend to be an ace reporter trying to get the inside scoop on the latest controversy. Other times, I'd sneak around with my 35mm camera, and pretend to be a private investigator, gathering evidence for my client. I felt invulnerable because I had the power to catch anything that happened on film.
When I got older, I really did do some reporting with my new 35mm slr camera. It was amature work done for indymedia. At the antiwar protests, I filmed people being arrested and beaten up by the cops. The images which I got were shocking and horrific. Cops were brutalizing unarmed peace demonstrators as the world reacted in an uproar to the unjust war in Iraq being perpetrated by the Bush administration. At the same time, it was moving to see the spirit and dedication of activists who would spend their every free moment fighting against tyranny worldwide. And I captured it all on my 35mm camera, and posted digital pictures for the world to see.
My 35mm camera has also come with me on travels all over the world. I used it to take pictures in Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe, capturing people from many different cultures going about their daily activities. It was a beautiful feeling to see people in different, exotic dress, working and playing the same way we do all around the world.

Ice Cream Machine
A fun and easy kitchen accessory is an ice cream machine. It is healthy and delicious to make your own ice cream, sorbets and slushies. Having an ice cream machine makes it possible to do this.

Electric Blanket
My mother is always complaining that she's cold. When we were kids, being in the car with our parents invariably resulted in an argument over the air conditioning in summer or the heat in winter. However, my mother was not overly impressed when she awoke at 3 am to find her new bedmate was a cold, rubber sack of cold water. It was back to the drawing board.
I did have a bit of money saved, so I headed for our local discount store. I found just what I was looking for: a queen-sized, electric blanket and it was even on sale! I was delighted and quickly handed over my cash, eager to be the one who had once-and-for-all put an end to my parent's disputes and to my mother's suffering. Getting in the door, I pulled the blanket from it's packaging, plugged it in and waited for it to heat up. It seemed to take a while so I went to the kitchen for a snack, completely forgetting that I had the electric blanket heating up in the other room. I was working away on a crossword puzzle when I noticed a funny smell. I thought I could smell something burning. I rushed to the other room to find my poor blanket smoldering - this fabric was obviously not flame resistant. No wonder it was on sale! The electric blanket was ruined and my plans were in shambles.
My mother continued to suffer through the years. We tried everything - from down filled slippers and polar fleece clothing to itchy, woolen long johns. Nothing seemed to work. Nothing seemed to keep her warm. My father learned to accomodate her condition - he took to wearing shorts around the house in winter and staying in the pool during the dog days of summer.
As an adult, I had the advantages of cash flow and experience, and one day I decided to step up to the plate and pick up my quest where I had left off many years ago. I did a little bit of online research and found the cadillac of electric blankets with all the bells and whistles and a warranty to match. My mother has never complained about the cold since, my father seems much more relaxed and I've been able to move on to bigger and better things. But every once in a while I think back to the old days with a shiver. Then I reach over, turn the switch on my own electric blanket to it's hottest setting and revel in the marvels of today's technology.

The Consumer Impact on FCC Rules about HDTV
The ever-growing consumer interest in HDTV has forced the FCC to work more quickly on regulating HDTV. Consumers are anxious to take advantage of the new technology, but unhappy with the FCC's slow progress in getting broadcaster's on board. In fact, the broadcast regulations set forth by the FCC are not monitored or truly enforced. Instead, broadcasters are expected to simply comply with FCC regulations in regard to HDTV.

Down resolution is the purposeful reduction of resolution quality that is provided through a broadcast. Alarm Clock CD Player
I find that waking up in the morning has become much much easier and more enjoyable since I bought an alarm clock cd player for myself. I used to just wake up to an alarm clock radio, and that had its advantages. There was always an element of surprise in the morning. I never knew what music exactly there would be to wake me up, so the morning had a little bit of a thrill to it. Sometimes my alarm radio would wake me up with something mellow and slow, and I would begin my day in a state of relaxation, calmly going down to breakfast. Other times, it would be something loud and jangly, and I would find myself completely pumped before I got out of bed – that or irritated.
But, ultimately my alarm clock cd player is much better than that old clock radio. With a cd alarm clock, I can chose exactly what music I want to wake up to in the morning, and that option simply can not be beat, no two ways about it. Oh, sure there is the chance that what I think will be enjoyable to wake up to turns out to be a dud once my alarm clock cd player clicks on with that distinctive click, but that chance is worth it. After all, I can always set my alarm clock cd player for a different song the next day if that is the case, so I always will have the choice of finding what it is that I like to hear, and listening to it first thing in the morning.
The best thing about my new alarm clock cd player is that it works as a good stereo system too. Anyone who has had an old clock radio knows exactly what I am about to talk about. They have this awful tinny sound, that comes from running on only one little tinny speaker. They are good for waking you up with that washed out, awful sound that is practically their trademark, but for nothing else. If, by contrast, you chose to use an alarm clock cd player, you get to wake up every morning to full, rich music which occupies the bass end of the spectrum as well as the treble. For an audiophile like me, there are no two ways about it. The choice is honestly very simple, as far as I am concerned.

Apple G4 Laptop Review
I admit it. I am hooked. I am hooked on my Apple G4 Laptop. First, you have to know this. It is my first Apple and my first laptop. I always thought that laptops are what you used when you could not buy a real computer. Now I hang my head in shame for ever thinking that.
The Apple G4 laptop may be all you will ever need to buy in a computer. The G4 runs very fast so that you can play all the new games that require a lot of processor speed. Although for my Apple G4 laptop, I installed extra memory because I sometimes work with large documents.
This laptop is slick and compact with all the features you need. You can get the Apple G4 has a built in CD/DVD reader and CD writer. You can also add on a DVD writer.
One other thing that is truly great about the Apple G4 laptop is the built-in speakers and microphone. You do not need to by a headset with the unit. I did add plug-in speakers for better music quality but it is not necessary and remember this. With the built-in microphone, you are instantly ready for web voice chat.

Buying A Digital Camera
Buying a digital camera can be a daunting task for the technologically challenged. There are so many options out there. Sometimes buyers have no idea where to begin. Fortunately, Consumer Reports provides helpful information to help ease the burden of making a decision. Buying a digital camera doesn’t have to be a hassle and it won’t be if you do a little research before making a purchase.
A few years ago, I sought out the perfect camera for our family but I didn’t really research the different options available. Buying a digital camera did not seem like a big deal. Of course, I didn’t want to pay too much but I also didn’t want a piece of junk, either. I opted to choose a device that fell midway on the price scale. This is no way of buying a digital camera. Believe me.
The camera I chose was made by a relatively unknown company and it was offered in a discount bargain store. It is usually a bad idea to purchase technological items at a store that sells groceries as well. These places should be avoided when buying a digital camera as a rule of thumb.
I was immediately disappointed in the product that was difficult to use. This user-unfriendly device took several hours to master and it did not deliver what it promised. There was a four second delay between shots. This can be an eternity if you are trying to capture certain subjects.
Also, the camera had a two second delay when taking the initial picture so it was very hard to anticipate when I should press the button. A baby’s smile can be very brief. In addition, there was an anti-red-eye flash that appeared about a second before the actual flash.
I captured many shots of people walking away with this slow camera. Even adults had trouble posing for photographs with this equipment. The first thing I looked for when buying a digital camera after this was quick shots and I wanted a device that functioned like a real camera.
After shopping around for a few weeks, my wife and I decided to buy an issue of Consumer Reports that outlined the best options for anyone buying a digital camera. We found the “Best Buy” pick from the magazine to be perfect for our family. From now on, I am doing a little research before making any major purchases.
